Dear Family,

Betty and I have been doing a lot of resting and a great deal of gabbing since we arrived in Nairobi. It has been so wonderful to see Lori and begin to catch up. Just a few days and Anna will join us. I can see that Nairobi is still in a slow recovery from the political clashes. It has taken a toll on the country that is evident to me compared to the trip in 2005. The Mayfield House as before is filled with the most amazing folk from all over Africa. We have had tremendously inspiring conversations with so many different missionaries. I was just stunned at dinner over our visit with an Ethiopian pastor who was describing for us the great explosion of faith in his country. And he had some very great insights about how the oppression under the old communist regime actually gave strength and vitality to the Church. He was himself imprisoned four times for his faith as a Christian.

So many persons were here for the conference that Lori attended on HIV-AIDS work with children. Every kind of ministry in Africa is - in one way or another - an HIV-AIDS ministry. But there are faithful workers and hope is alive. Not sure how much of Nairobi we will see this visit, our sights are set on getting as many things as we can that will be useful in Mwanza for the work at TCRC. Thanks so much for your prayers for us. We are thinking of you all.

Love,

Jason and Betty
