Apparently a lot of people are asking my dad about me... so on his request,
here's a catch-up email for everyone...
Nothing new is going on... I know what you're all thinking-- that's
impossible... No, it's not... Rotary here doesn't let me do ANYTHING... so
everyday is pretty much exactly the same as the last. I finally stopped
waiting on my rotary club to find me a volunteer job ( i waited for 5
months) and found one myself... I'm now working with Sofie (exchanger from
Denmark) from 8am to 11am tuesdays and thursdays at a "day care center" for
poor families. There are two women that we work with... usually there are
over 15 kids for the 4 of us... They are between the ages of 5 months and 20
months... They are truly a handful, but I really love the work. I am
currently sick, a hazard of the job, but am getting better-- yesterday i
slept for about 20 hours--no kidding. I am currently studying in cursinho
which is the year between high school and college if you don't pass
vestibular (special test for college-- much different than our SATs or
ACTs)... There is a specific vestibular for every course of study at every
college... Therefore, you must know what and where you want to study before
you can even take it. Most kids don't pass the first year and end up in
cursinho for a year or two. The kids are a lot more mature than the kids
from the last story about school, so i'm enjoying class much more now.
Also, there are around 150 students in the cursinho class, so it is much
more laid back, and the teachers let me read books n stuff... so yeah, much
better. Well, that's about it. Hope you all have a great Easter! I can't
wait until Easter-- I gave up chocolate and ice cream for Lent!!
beijos,
Kate
