Somebody asked me some of the main differences that came to mind between Thailand and Brasil…. Well, here they are… In Brasil:

I'm not allowed to go out after dark--not even with a friend (unless I'm in a car or a building... but not walking outside, ya know) it is dark by 6:30pm

Lunch is the main meal

We eat basically the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch and often don't eat any dinner at all

There is no good or cheap public transportation in my city... only really expensive taxis or mototaxis-- but your parents don't want you to ride the mototaxis because they're not safe, and although they're cheaper than taxis, they're still expensive

I have no AC in my house-- not even in my room.

Curfews on the weekend are practically non-existent

You have to go to school all-day everyday.

Things are expensive here. I only get 2.3 rais to $1... The only cheap things are waxings, pedicures/manicures, massages, getting your hair done, and ice cream.

Restaurants are neither fast nor easy... there are very few "vendor-like" places that we had all over Thailand (that were actually really good)... Those few places usually sell really greasy foods that make me feel really sick... and in real restaurants, the service is OOBER slow and you have to get expensive foods...

love,
Katia
