Hey all!

Sawadee-kha! As you probably all know, I went to a silk farm on last   Wednesday (march 10) and got back this Tuesday (march 16)….   Well… to be   honest, it wasn’t as great as we thought it would be….  Thursday, Friday, and   Saturday were pretty good… and the last 3 days were pretty much a waste of   time.   Thursday we did Batik… it’s an art that comes from Sri Lanka  You but wax on silk to outline the picture you want, and then you paint it… I   did a scene of the ocean… it turned out better than I thought it would   (considering I’m HORRIBLE at art)….  The next day we made silk flower   arrangements… I did red lotuses and gave them to my host mother…Friday we   did the most time-consuming and most difficult thing… we crocheted hats… and   considering I’d never done crochet, it was pretty hard.   And the woman   teaching us was really good, but a HORRIBLE teacher… so that was   interesting, but mine ended up coming out the best… so that was pretty   sweet….

and the rest of the week we played cards.   Everyday we went jogging   for an hour, and everyday we went on some kind of walk around lunchtime to   buy drinks… the entire time we were there it was MAD HOT (because it’s   currently the middle of Thai summer) and we didn’t have any air   conditioning… so that was interesting… several days it was over 100 degrees…   and the rest of the time it stayed in the 90’s….   so yeah… that’s about it…   mostly just a lot of card playing… which is illegal in Thailand…sort of….  I   mean, gambling is illegal, and they just assume that EVERYONE who plays   cards gambles, so if they catch you, they’ll assume you’re gambling… but   we’re foreigners… so I don’t think we’d have too big of a problem… okay…   that’s about it…
